The Gwyn Evans Leisure and Activity Centre

The Gwyn Evans Leisure and Activity Centre underwent a major refurbishment in 2010.The work was part of the continuous improvements being made to council-managed facilities in the area.

The main fabric work included the building of a new first floor to house a state-of-the-art gym suite, an improved pool spectator area to seat 100 as well as an upgraded reception area, kitchen, teaching room and extended car park.

The project also included major improvements to the audio facilities. The heart of the system has state of the art digital processing control for the sound throughout the numerous different zones in complex.

While providing the benefits of optimum performance such as high quality sound for background music, aerobic classes and clear intelligible voice announcements the controls are very user friendly and easy to operate. This enables staff to make adjustments quickly and efficiently.

The upgraded reception has voice transfer systems for each customer point including audio loops for persons with hearing aids. An audio loop system has also been built into the pool viewing area to cater for customers with hearing impairment.

For pool side aerobic instructors there is both a wireless headset microphone and a wireless music playback facility. This allows for safe and quick finger tip control by the instructor at the pool side with the top quality sound providing clear voice reproduction and hi- fidelity music.

Hi-fidelity sound is also provided in the gym suite with even sound levels throughout the room for an enhanced work out experience.

Maximum and minimum sound levels cannot be tampered with, being set to the venue’s requirements. For low system life costs equipment has been sourced from manufacturers with class leading reliable products.
